Introduction
"Who Is Don Klyberg" is a compelling investigative exposé that uncovers the identity, background, and property conditions associated with Don Klyberg—a registered slumlord and absentee owner of a currently uninhabitable and hostile rental unit. In this property, the Internally Displaced Person (IDP) endures gender-based discrimination, sexual harassment, and retaliatory abuse at the hands of property manager Rick Newmann. Drawing from public records, verified evidence, and firsthand testimony, the exposé reveals a disturbing pattern of sexual violence in housing—violations and living conditions that pose a direct threat to life and are enabled by systemic criminality within the Minnesota Department of Human Services and its network of supporters. This report brings to light the state's continued failure to transparently document, investigate, and correct criminal acts in housing authorities and at MN DHS which push Minnesotans into dangerous rentals in the first place. This platform is a vital resource for understanding the intersection of landlord negligence, tenant protections, and the broader institutional structures that enable abuse within Minnesota’s human service and housing systems.
Owning My Narrative
While what you're seeing and reading is absolutely disgusting, it does not compare to how disturbing the actual situation is. This is a case of sexual harassment by property manager Rick Newmann, which falls under gender discrimination.
Rick Newmann is a documented sexual predator (with evidence included in this blog), employed by a rental real estate owner whose uninhabitable properties have caused serious harm. Meanwhile, he funnels the profits from those properties into his personal bank accounts to fund a millionaire lifestyle in Mazatlán, Mexico. Cities have already condemned all of his properties and revoked all of his rental licenses long before I ever encountered one of his properties or employees.
I have been a tenant since 2023 and have yet to lay eyes on the property owner—he is entirely absent. The only way to get his attention is by withholding rent to drive him out of the woodwork. He has left this property under the control of a known sexual predator, Rick Newmann, and Anthony Anderson, who operates as his flunky—signing documents and delivering notices that were created solely by Rick Newmann for liability purposes. They are best friends.
Newmann groomed me from day one.
He stepped over the line with comments, touch, and boundaries. When I questioned his actions, he lashed out violently. So began the harassment, which blossomed into sexual harassment, sexual advances, stalking, breach of privacy, illegal surveillance, theft and property destruction, mobilizing others to attack me physically and psychologically, noise harassment, slander (false gossip), mobilizing police with false police reports to intimidate by entering my unit against my will to humiliate me (a totally baseless Sonya Massey-type wellness check that could have ended fatally), mail theft, mail tampering, vandalism, stopping my mail services, sabotage of rental payment, intimidation, and constant threats of constructive eviction, actual attempted eviction, incessant retaliation for not bending to his will and asserted "male privilege" to have personal contact with me as an obligation of tenancy in addition to paying rent while following lease obligations.
During the early grooming stages, Newmann put me under a microscope—watching all my activities, seeking to discover what makes me tick and how he could insert himself into my life, become an authority in some area where I’d find him personally useful, and thus spend personal time with him—at which point he would make the pass to begin a willing relationship of sexual contact with me.
Even though his grooming failing he still took a stab at fast tracking to the personal contact inside the rental office and a sexual advance, by a cruel, violent, unpredictable, filthy, geriatric, unattractive, predator, while his diseased cat rubs on your leg and roaches (he won't exterminate) run about, whose actually pleased that his conduct is hurtful, because he's not about sexual attraction he's about dominance, humiliation and the satisfaction of destruction. Frankly, he doesn't even appear to be women at all.
As someone who has been in an Address Confidentiality Program for twelve years as a survivor of domestic violence and stalking, and who has been forced into proximity with violent men through the ongoing Medicaid fraud and voucher theft, I saw right through Newmann from the beginning and began reporting him to my therapist on a weekly basis from the first week I moved into the property.
He got nowhere with grooming. But distressing me constantly.
By stalking through my windows, and abuse of access to my unit for stove repair (during the grooming stage) he observed that my health is of great importance to me—ensuring that my living environment is as therapeutic as possible. I spend the bulk of my time in peace and quiet: cleaning, cooking, practicing self-care, perfectly content with my own activities and hobbies. I am sober, unlike the friendships of addiction and severe mental illness Newmann surrounds himself with. And from time to time, I welcomed a friendly visit—if there was an appropriate friend to be found in such a truly, isolated rural area, during the short period that lasted.
Unfit Habitation, That's a Danger To Life as a Sexual Predators Weapon of Dominance, Isolation, Power and Control
When grooming failed, Newmann used his observations to create a filthy, counter-therapeutic environment where self-care and functionality became impossible—and I watched him revel in it as my health declined. He refused to make repairs. He brought in roaches and refused to exterminate them so that I would invite male suitors to my home. He intentionally allowed feces and animal urine to pile up in the carpeted common areas for the same purpose, and he reveled in my spells of nausea and vomiting that would last for days at a time.
The messages were clear: If I cannot be with you, no one can. If you don't pleasure me, there will be no peace or pleasure for you. You don't get to be strong or independent as a single woman on this property. You will provide me with undivided attention, perform domestic tasks, and turn over total control of your life to me—or you will be too sick to function. I'm in control.
I am the sole authority on this property—not only over the property itself but over all people I deem to be under my control.
Newmann operated like a gorilla-pimp. While I reported him as a predator, I wasn’t taken seriously. While I reported that he was using his power to punish me for rebuffing his advances—that he refused to make repairs because I wouldn’t let him have his way with me—I was ignored.
Newmann was protected. And it was entirely based on race, gender, and greed—much of which I documented on video, audio, and in photos.
More Victims and Police Refusal To Respond
In the 12th month of my reports of this harassment, another victim escaped an attack by Newmann in the rental office. The victim admitted that they cannot get any repairs unless they complicity provide touch to Newmann. I spoke with the victim on camera—she is the girlfriend of Rick Newmann's best friend and co-property manager, Anthony Anderson.
According to the middle-aged, white, female, disabled victim, Newmann has coerced her and her severely mentally disabled sister to provide physical contact in exchange for housing for the past three years. She called 911 to report the attack. The victim admits that, similarly to my case, the police refused to respond.
What you are reading is not simply about a nuisance property—this is intimate, non-personal abuse. It’s a perfect example of what I call “Minnesota Nice Crime,” a system intentionally developed and taught to operate under plausible deniability, using abuse of employment power to accomplish the most devastating destruction without resorting to overt crimes that are easier to prosecute.
Good ol' boys and girls from Minnesota like Newmann and Klyberg are masters of this system.
The rub is: a victim has to find someone in office who isn’t part of the good ol’ boys and girls club to begin with—someone who won’t break the law to cover up the evidence and punish the victim for coming forward. And that’s hard to find in Minnesota. They all talk a good game about what’s not going on. They’re not talking about what we all know is going on.
The state is governed like a family where all members are required to keep family secrets secret. When you’re Black—and I don’t mean immigrant, because they’re not governed the same in Minnesota—that family can often feel like a plantation, because there is no recourse when anyone except a Black man violates you in any way. You're accepted to simply absorb the damages and injuries—like it's you're fault that you've been a victim of a crime.
In the case of harassment and gender discrimination on Don Klyberg’s property, the proof is that they’re all club members—and I am stuck, abused, physically frail, and in danger with more than $18,000.00 in losses and counting. I fear for my life, and I am forever changed psychologically by this experience.
Thus, despite walls of silence, there will be no disappearance of evidence, and those who fail to legally enforce the law to my detriment will be exposed.
